Artificial Intelligence will takeover Fashion

In the new 5th Industrial Revolution technology is the key as “humans and machines will dance together, metaphorically.” The AI Industry will be earning $118Billion a year by 2025 and this will have a major effect on the fashion industry. AI will store all your data (your height, weight, measurements, fit preferences) as well as 3D cameras capturing 150 data points on their body, and brands will use it to give customers what they are looking for within a fraction of seconds all through the medium of an app on their mobile phone.

This algorithm then combines this information with its existing database of items, styles, and sizes to recommend products from brands and this will further help in VIRTUAL FITTING ROOMS- it’s just like a Snapchat filter where you select a jewelry filter and it shows on your face but in a more updated version in fashion “try before you buy virtually.” We all know how much clothing is being wasted in the industry this will be reduced as the designers will showcase their collection virtually thus you can try and buy on your mobile app to place the order. Soon VIRTUAL FITTING ROOM will become a thing in the market and all stores will have screens where all you have to do is stand and change this will reduce the hustle and time consumed by the customer in trial rooms. AI is the new buzz word not only just the word but it will create employment to the sector, brands will be investing in AI to know what the consumer is looking for, what is he/she searching for, what is trending. Till now we have only seen influencers cracking algorithms to get famous on Instagram but from now brands will use algorithms to crack what the consumer wants for example Brands like STITCH FIX has already invested in AI and they designed a system called HYBRID DESIGNS: it identifies the viable gaps in the company’s inventory- clothe the people would want to buy but designers haven’t made yet and then they use this hybrid design AI Technology to create those designs and fill those gaps. How does it work? So, they have created 3 algorithms the first algorithm picks 3 parents recommended pieces of clothing that will be combined or either be used as a template for a brand-new piece, the second algorithm suggest 3 different attributes that have been shown to contribute to the parent style such as different neckline, sleeves, trims and so forth and the third algorithm shows a little bit of randomness, a suggestion that isn’t typically previously suggested style but it might be interesting. So together these algorithms search through 30 trillion potential combinations to give out only 9 recommendations and they have been using this to create new potential clothing.

Not only this but GOOGLE is testing user-driven AI fashion design that uses algorithms to create new pieces and styles. This will have its own perks but some disadvantages, Is AI trying to replace designers? I don’t know about that but surely if one thing comes up another goes aside, as of now in the 5th Industrial Revolution focuses on paving innovations drawing humans and machines together.
